Especificación (estándar técnico)
La especificación puede referirse a un conjunto explícito de requisitos que debe satisfacer un material, diseño, producto o servicio. En caso de que un material, producto o servicio no cumpla con una o más de las especificaciones aplicables, puede ser referido como estando fuera de especificación; También se puede usar la abreviatura OOS. En el uso casual, underspec o overspec se utilizan cuando algo es peor o mejor que lo especificado, aunque en general sólo hay una noción de "in spec" o "out of spec", no "mejor" o "peor". Una especificación es un tipo de norma técnica. Una especificación técnica puede ser desarrollada por cualquiera de varios tipos de organizaciones, públicas y privadas. Ejemplos de tipos de organización incluyen una corporación, un consorcio, una asociación comercial, un gobierno nacional, una asociación profesional, una organización de estándares de propósito específico, como ISO, o los requisitos genéricos desarrollados por proveedores. Es común que una organización se refiera a los estándares de otro. Las normas voluntarias pueden ser obligatorias si son adoptadas por un gobierno o un contrato comercial.
