Traducción
La traducción es la comunicación del significado de un texto en lenguaje fuente mediante un texto equivalente en el idioma de destino. Mientras que la interpretación, sin duda, antecede a la escritura, la traducción comenzó sólo después de la aparición de la literatura escrita; Existen traducciones parciales de la epopeya sumeria de Gilgamesh en las lenguas del suroeste asiático del segundo milenio aC. Debido a las exigencias de la documentación empresarial derivada de la Revolución Industrial que se inició a mediados del siglo XVIII, algunas especialidades de traducción se han formalizado, con escuelas dedicadas y asociaciones profesionales. Debido a la laboriosidad de la traducción, desde los años 1940 los ingenieros han tratado de automatizar la traducción o de ayudar mecánicamente al traductor humano.
