Matrice active
La matrice active est un type de schéma d'adressage utilisé dans les écrans plats. Dans ce procédé de commutation d'éléments individuels d'un affichage à écran plat, chaque pixel est attaché à un transistor et un condensateur qui maintiennent activement l'état du pixel tandis que d'autres pixels sont adressés. Ceci est à comparer avec la technologie de matrice passive ancienne dans laquelle chaque pixel doit maintenir son état passivement, sans être entraîné par un circuit. La technologie de la matrice active a été inventée par Bernard J. Lechner à RCA et a été démontrée pour la première fois comme un dispositif réalisable utilisant des transistors en film mince par T. Peter Brody et son département Thin-Film Devices à Westinghouse Electric Corporation en 1974 et le terme a été introduit dans La littérature en 1975. Compte tenu d'une matrice m × n, le nombre de connecteurs nécessaires pour traiter l'affichage est m + n. Chaque pixel est attaché à un dispositif de commutation, qui maintient activement l'état du pixel tandis que d'autres pixels sont adressés, ce qui empêche également la diaphonie de modifier par inadvertance l'état d'un pixel non adressé.
