Arbitre
Un arbitre est quelqu'un qui préside, juge et arbitre lors d'un différend formel. Le terme adjudicateur signifie essentiellement un juge, sans invoquer le terme juridique. Un ombudsman est un type d'arbitre dans le gouvernement local au Royaume-Uni. Un exemple d'arbitre est une personne qui fait un jugement préliminaire sur une demande d'assurance-chômage. Un arbitre prend une décision initiale de garder une affaire devant un tribunal. Bien que la décision de l'arbitre n'ait pas le même poids juridique, un arbitre a encore rendu une décision comme un juge. Même si un cas peut faire l'objet d'un recours devant un juge, la décision de l'arbitre est souvent acceptée comme la même chose que ce qu'un juge ferait, en supprimant de nombreux cas longs du système judiciaire. L'arbitre est également un terme utilisé pour se référer à un panel de juges dans le processus de réception d'une autorisation de sécurité Top Secret / SCI pour le gouvernement des États-Unis. Les arbitres sont le panel qui examine toutes les informations issues d'une enquête de fond et d'un polygraphe et prennent une décision d'accorder ou non l'autorisation.
