Jorge Luis Borges
Jorge Francisco Isidoro Luis Borges, KBE (espagnol: audio (aide), 24 août 1899 - 14 juin 1986) était un écrivain, essayiste, poète et traducteur argentin né à Buenos Aires. Son travail embrasse le «caractère de l'irréalité dans toute la littérature». Ses livres les plus connus, les Ficciones (Fictions) et The Aleph (El Aleph), publié dans les années 1940, sont des compilations de récits courts interconnectés par des thèmes communs, y compris des rêves, des labyrinthes, des bibliothèques, des miroirs, des écrivains de fiction, de la philosophie et de la religion. Les œuvres de Borges ont contribué à la littérature philosophique et aussi au genre fantastique. La critique Ángel Flores, la première à utiliser le terme de réalisme magique pour définir un genre qui a réagi contre le réalisme dominant et le naturalisme du 19ème siècle, considère le début du mouvement comme la sortie de l'Histoire universelle de l'infamie de Borges (Historia universal de La infamia). Cependant, certains critiques considèrent Borges comme un prédécesseur et pas vraiment un réalisateur magique. Ses poèmes tardifs dialoguent avec des personnages culturels tels que Spinoza, Camões et Virgil.
