Bumpy est une espèce de méduse, Stellamedusa ventana. L'espèce a été décrite pour la première fois dans le Journal of the Marine Biological Association en 2004 par Kevin Raskoff et George Matsumoto de l'Institut de recherche sur l'aquarium de la baie de Monterey. En février 2004, sept spécimens ont été observés, cinq au large de la côte californienne dans la baie de Monterey et deux dans le golfe de Californie. Contrairement à la plupart des méduses, ils manquent de tentacules marginaux. Les spécimens jusqu'à présent atteignent près de 10 cm de diamètre, ce qui est important pour une scyphomedusa. La cloche est de couleur bleu-blanc. L'exumbrella est blanche, et ces quatre bras oraux sont couverts de grandes projections chargées de nématocystes remplies de cellules piquantes, ce qui permet à la gelée de capturer des aliments de différentes tailles; Il semble préférer de nombreuses proies, jusqu'à la moitié de sa taille, ce qui est inhabituel dans les gelées qui capturent les proies avec leurs cloches plutôt qu'avec des tentacules. L'aspect cahoteux que les cellules piquantes donnent à la gelée a conduit à son nom commun. Le nom de l'espèce provient du véhicule à distance Operana Ventana, un sous-marin robot de plongée profonde qui a d'abord enregistré la gelée sur vidéo en 1990.
