Cuttlebone
Cuttlebone, également connu sous le nom d'os de seiches, est une structure interne dure et fragile qui se trouve dans tous les membres de la famille des Sepiïdes, communément appelée seiche, une famille dans les céphalopodes. Le coulis se compose principalement d'aragonite. Il s'agit d'une coque remplie de gaz à chambre, utilisée pour le contrôle de la flottabilité; Son siphuncle est fortement modifié et se trouve sur le côté ventral de la coquille. La structure microscopique du godet se compose de couches étroites reliées par de nombreux piliers verticaux. Selon l'espèce, les cuttlebones implosent à une profondeur de 200 à 600 mètres. En raison de cette limitation, la plupart des espèces de seiche vivent sur le fond marin dans les eaux peu profondes, habituellement sur le plateau continental.
