Exercice physique

L'exercice physique est une activité corporelle qui améliore ou maintient l'aptitude physique et la santé générale et le bien-être. Il est réalisé pour diverses raisons, y compris le renforcement des muscles et du système cardiovasculaire, l'affinage des compétences athlétiques, la perte de poids ou l'entretien, ainsi que dans le but de jouir. L'exercice physique fréquent et régulier stimule le système immunitaire et contribue à prévenir les «maladies d'affluence» telles que les maladies cardiaques, les maladies cardiovasculaires, le diabète de type 2 et l'obésité. Il améliore également la santé mentale, contribue à prévenir la dépression, contribue à promouvoir ou à maintenir une estime de soi positive et peut même augmenter l'attrait sexuel ou l'image corporelle d'un individu, ce qui est également lié à des niveaux plus élevés d'estime de soi. L'obésité infantile est une préoccupation mondiale croissante et l'exercice physique peut aider à diminuer certains des effets de l'obésité chez les enfants et les adultes. Les fournisseurs de soins de santé appellent souvent l'exercice du médicament «miracle» ou «merveille», faisant allusion à la grande variété d'avantages prouvés qu'il fournit.
