Swertia perennis
Swertia perennis est une espèce de plante à fleurs dans la famille des gentianes connue sous le nom commun de felwort. Il est originaire de plusieurs régions de l'hémisphère nord, y compris une grande partie de l'Eurasie et de l'ouest de l'Amérique du Nord. C'est une plante de zones humides, en particulier des fens calcaires. Il est commun à abondance dans de nombreux domaines, mais il est connu pour être affecté négativement par la fragmentation de l'habitat et la destruction d'autres habitats, et l'activité humaine a conduit à son extirpation dans certaines régions où il était autrefois commun. Il s'agit d'une plante vivace produisant habituellement une tige dressée de 10 à 50 centimètres de hauteur. Les feuilles basales sont en forme de cuillère avec des pointes arrondies, et les feuilles plus élevées sur la plante sont largement en forme de lance ou un peu ovales, avec des pointes pointues. L'inflorescence est une panicule ouverte de fleurs au sommet de la tige. Chaque fleur a un calice de quatre ou cinq sépales pointues et une corolle de quatre ou cinq lobes pointu jusqu'à 1,3 centimètres de long. La corolle est bleu terne à violet en couleur avec un veinard violacé ou un pointillé plus sombre. Il y a deux puits nectars arrondis à la base de chaque lobe de la corolle. Les étamines inclinées avec de grandes anthères entourent un ovaire central.
