Musique folklorique
La musique folklorique comprend à la fois la musique traditionnelle et le genre qui en a évolué lors du renouveau populaire du 20ème siècle. Le terme est originaire du 19ème siècle mais est souvent appliqué à la musique qui est plus ancienne que cela. Certains types de musique folklorique sont également appelés musique du monde. La musique folklorique traditionnelle a été définie de plusieurs façons: comme la musique est transmise par la bouche, comme la musique des classes inférieures, et comme de la musique avec des compositeurs inconnus. Il a été contrasté avec les styles commercial et classique. Un sens souvent donné est celui des vieilles chansons, sans compositeurs connus; Une autre est la musique qui a été transmise et évoluée par un processus de transmission orale ou exécutée par la coutume sur une longue période de temps. À partir du milieu du 20ème siècle, une nouvelle forme de musique folklorique populaire a évolué à partir de la musique folklorique traditionnelle. Ce processus et cette période est appelé le renouveau populaire et atteint un zénith dans les années 1960. Cette forme de musique est parfois appelée musique folklorique contemporaine ou musique de renaissance folklorique pour la distinguer des formes folkloriques antérieures.
