Spiraea tomentosa
Spiraea tomentosa, communément appelée steeplebush, meadowweet ou hardhack, est une plante de caractéristiques similaires à S. douglasii. Spiraea tomentosa a jusqu'à quatre pieds de haut, et préfère un sol humide à humide et un plein soleil. Il fleurit en été. Les fleurs individuelles Steeplebush ont environ 1/16 de pouce de large et sont disposées dans des grappes étroites en forme de pyramide pouvant atteindre huit pouces de long. Les papillons et autres insectes nourris au nectar trouvent les fleurs très attrayantes. Les fleurs sont suivies de petits fruits secs et marrons. Il a un toment dense blanc-laine qui couvre sa tige et la partie inférieure de ses feuilles. Il est noté pour ses propriétés astringentes, qui font qu'il soit utilisé médicalement. La zone de rusticité de cette plante est répertoriée dans les zones 4 à 8. Il se trouve nativement dans l'est des États-Unis et au Canada.
