L'inférence est l'acte ou le processus consistant à tirer des conclusions logiques à partir de locaux connus ou présumés vrais. La conclusion tirée s'appelle aussi une idiomatique. Alternativement, l'inférence peut être définie comme le moyen non logique, mais rationnel, par l'observation de modèles de faits, pour voir indirectement de nouvelles significations et contextes de compréhension.
