Brigades internationales
Les Brigades Internationales étaient des unités militaires composées de bénévoles de différents pays, qui se sont rendus en Espagne pour se battre pour la Deuxième République Espagnole dans la Guerre Civile Espagnole entre 1936 et 1939. Le nombre de volontaires combattants a été estimé entre 32 000 et 35 000. Avec plus de 20 000 actifs en tout temps. Encore 10 000 personnes ont probablement participé à des rôles non combattants et environ 3 000 à 5 000 étrangers étaient membres de CNT ou POUM. Ils venaient d'une revendication de «53 nations» pour lutter contre les forces faunistiques espagnoles menées par le général Francisco Franco, qui était assisté par les forces allemandes et italiennes.
