Prédicateur laïque
Un lecteur laïc est un laïc autorisé par un évêque dans la Communion anglicane à lire certaines parties d'un service de culte. Ils sont membres de la congrégation autorisés à prêcher et à présider certains services, mais pas appelés à un ministère à temps plein. Les lecteurs laïcs anglicans sont autorisés par l'évêque à une paroisse particulière ou au diocèse en général. Dans le premier cas, dans certaines régions, leur mandat expire avec la démission du curé. Dans la tradition anglicane, le rôle des lecteurs laitiers autorisés, dont la prominence varie selon la région, est semblable à celui d'un prédicateur séculaire non conforme et peut impliquer: ▪ la conduite de Mattins, Evensong et Complies; ▪ la récitation de la litanie; ▪ la publication de banns de Mariage ▪ Prédication, enseignement et aide à la pastorale ▪ Course des funérailles ▪ Distribution de la sainte communion. Bien que, dans de nombreuses paroisses, ces fonctions puissent être exercées par un laïc raisonnablement compétent qui a été correctement instruit, la clé de la licence du lecteur est qu'il est autorisé à les faire en l'absence d'un prêtre. Les lecteurs autorisés ont le droit de porter une tippette bleue avec une robe de choeur.
