Maccabées
Les Maccabées, également écrits Machabees, étaient les dirigeants d'une armée rebelle juive qui a pris le contrôle de la Judée, qui était à l'époque une province de l'Empire séleucide. Ils ont fondé la dynastie Hasmonean, qui a régné de 164 avant J.-C. à 63 avant notre ère. Ils ont réaffirmé la religion juive, en partie par la conversion forcée, ont élargi les limites de la Judée par la conquête et réduit l'influence de l'hellénisme et du judaïsme hellénistique.
