Accord napolitain
Dans la théorie de la musique, un accord napolitain est une corde majeure construite sur le degré de deuxième échelle abaissé. En outre, dans l'analyse de Schenkerian, on l'appelle Phrygian II, car dans une échelle mineure, l'accord est construit sur les notes du mode Phrygien correspondant. Bien qu'il soit parfois indiqué par un "N" plutôt qu'un "♭ II". Certains analystes préfèrent le dernier puisqu'il indique la relation de cet accord avec le supertonique. L'accord napolitain ne relève pas des catégories de mélange ni de tonicisation. Morover, même Schenkerians comme Carl Schachter ne considèrent pas cet accord comme un signe pour un changement au mode Phrygien. Par conséquent, comme les sixièmes accords augmentés, il devrait être assigné à une catégorie distincte d'altération chromatique. Le napolitain se produit le plus souvent en première inversion, de sorte qu'il soit noté comme ♭ II6 ou N6 et normalement appelé un sixième accord napolitain. En C, par exemple, un sixième accord napolitain en première inversion contient un intervalle d'un sixième entre F et D ♭.
