Pecking order
L'ordre publicitaire ou l'ordre de peck est le terme familier pour un système hiérarchique d'organisation sociale. Il a d'abord été décrit par Thorleif Schjelderup-Ebbe en 1921 sous les termes allemands Hackordnung ou Hackliste et introduit en anglais en 1927. L'utilisation originale de l'ordre hiérarchique portait sur l'expression de la domination chez les poulets. La domination chez les poulets est affirmée par divers comportements, y compris le picage, qui a été utilisé par Schjelderup-Ebbe comme une mesure de la domination et de l'ordre de leadership. Dans son article de langue allemande de 1924, il a noté que «la défense et l'agression dans la poule sont accomplies avec le bec».
