Pilularia globulifera
Pilularia globulifera, ou pillard, est une espèce inhabituelle de fougères originaires de l'Europe occidentale, où elle pousse aux bords des lacs, des étangs, des fossés et des marais, sur un sol argileux ou argileux-sableux, parfois dans de l'eau jusqu'à 30 cm de profondeur. Il a un sporocarpe à 4 chambres en forme de pois, chaque chambre avec sorus portant à la fois macrosporangia et microsporangia. Certaines plantes qui poussent en association avec cette espèce au Royaume-Uni incluent le céleri d'eau, le pennywort de marais et le pétrole moindre. Il s'agit d'une espèce menacée à l'échelle internationale figurant dans le Livre rouge européen. Il figure à l'annexe 8 de l'Ordre de la faune 1985, mais il n'a pas été vu depuis 1970 et peut-être éteint dans la province. Il est protégé par la Loi sur la faune et la campagne 1981 dans le reste du Royaume-Uni, où il est maintenant classé comme vulnérable. Pillwort peut être cultivé dans un «bog garden» ou comme aquacole marginaux dans un étang de jardin.
