Réévaluation
La réévaluation signifie une modification du prix des produits ou des produits. Ce terme est spécialement utilisé comme réévaluation d'une monnaie, ce qui signifie une hausse de la devise par rapport à une devise étrangère à taux de change fixe. Dans le taux de change flottant, le terme correct serait l'appréciation. La modification de la valeur nominale d'une monnaie sans changer son pouvoir d'achat est une redéfinition, non une réévaluation. En termes généraux, la réévaluation d'une monnaie est un ajustement calculé du taux de change officiel d'un pays par rapport à une base de référence choisie. La ligne de base peut être allant des taux de salaire au prix de l'or à une devise étrangère. Dans un régime de taux de change fixe, seule une décision du gouvernement d'un pays peut modifier la valeur officielle de la monnaie. Contraste à la "dévaluation". Par exemple, supposons qu'un gouvernement ait fixé 10 unités de sa monnaie égales à un dollar américain. Pour réévaluer, le gouvernement pourrait modifier le taux à 9,9 unités par dollar. Cela entraînerait que cette devise soit légèrement plus coûteuse pour les personnes qui achètent cette devise avec des dollars américains que précédemment et que le dollar américain coûte un peu moins à ceux qui l'achètent avec des devises étrangères.
