Stagflation
La stagflation, un manteau de stagnation et d'inflation, est un terme utilisé en économie pour décrire une situation où le taux d'inflation est élevé, le taux de croissance économique ralenti et le chômage demeure élevé. Cela soulève un dilemme pour la politique économique, car les actions visant à réduire l'inflation peuvent exacerber le chômage et vice versa. Le terme est généralement attribué à un politicien britannique qui est devenu chancelier de l'échiquier en 1970, Iain Macleod, qui a inventé la phrase dans son discours au Parlement en 1965. Dans l'arène politique, une mesure de la stagflation, appelée l'Indice de la misère, a été utilisée pour faire écho aux élections présidentielles aux États-Unis en 1976 et en 1980.
