Sous-traitant

Un sous-traitant est un particulier ou, dans bien des cas, une entreprise qui signe un contrat pour exécuter une partie ou la totalité des obligations du contrat d'un autre. Un sous-traitant est une personne qui est engagée par un entrepreneur général pour effectuer une tâche spécifique dans le cadre du projet global et est normalement payée pour les services fournis au projet par l'entrepreneur général d'origine. Alors que le concept le plus courant d'un sous-traitant est dans les travaux de construction et le génie civil, la gamme des opportunités pour le sous-traitant est beaucoup plus large et il est possible que le plus grand nombre fonctionne désormais dans les secteurs de l'information et des technologies de l'information. L'incitation à embaucher des sous-traitants est soit pour réduire les coûts, soit pour atténuer les risques liés au projet. De cette façon, l'entrepreneur général reçoit un service identique ou supérieur à celui que l'entrepreneur général aurait pu fournir par lui-même, à un risque global plus faible. De nombreux sous-traitants travaillent pour les mêmes entreprises plutôt que pour des entreprises différentes. Cela permet aux sous-traitants de mieux spécialiser leurs compétences.
