Transcodage
Le transcodage est la conversion directe analogique-numérique ou numérique-numérique d'un codage à l'autre, par exemple pour les fichiers de fichiers vidéo, les fichiers audio ou le codage des caractères. Cela se fait généralement dans les cas où un périphérique cible ne prend pas en charge le format ou a une capacité de stockage limitée qui impose une taille de fichier réduite ou pour convertir des données incompatibles ou obsolètes en un format mieux supporté ou moderne.
