Anneau de vortex
Un anneau de vortex, également appelé tourbillon toroïdal, est un vortex en forme de tore dans un fluide; C'est-à-dire une région où le fluide tourne principalement autour d'une ligne d'axe imaginaire qui forme une boucle fermée. Le flux dominant dans un anneau de vortex est dite toroïdale, plus précisément polidale. Les anneaux de vortex sont abondants dans les flux turbulents de liquides et de gaz, mais sont rarement remarqués à moins que le mouvement du fluide ne soit révélé par des particules en suspension - comme dans les anneaux de fumée qui sont souvent produits intentionnellement ou accidentellement par des fumeurs. Les anneaux de vortex visibles peuvent également être formés par le tir de certaines artilleries, des nuages de champignons et des microbursts. Un anneau de vortex tend généralement à se déplacer dans une direction qui est perpendiculaire au plan de la bague et de sorte que le bord intérieur de la bague se déplace plus rapidement vers l'avant que le bord extérieur. Dans un corps de liquide stationnaire, un anneau de vortex peut se déplacer pour une distance relativement longue, en portant le fluide de filage.
