Dau - un voilier traditionnel arabe avec un ou plusieurs voiliers. Initialement utilisé sur la côte de la péninsule arabique, l'Inde et l'Afrique de l'Est. Big peut avoir une trentaine de membres d'équipage, les plus petits ont généralement 12 personnes. Souvent, le nom est écrit en anglais comme un boutre. Jusqu'aux années 1960, le boutre transportait des croisières commerciales entre le golfe Persique et la côte Est de l'Afrique en utilisant seulement la voile pour déplacer le bateau. Les cargaisons étaient principalement des dattes et des poissons transportés en Afrique, et sur le chemin du retour, du bois de mangrove était prélevé. Dhow courait vers le sud durant la saison de la mousson en hiver et au début du printemps, et retournait en Arabie à la fin du printemps ou au début de l'été.

Ładunkiem były głównie daktyle i ryby przewożone do Afryki, a w drodze powrotnej zabierano drewno mangrowe. Dhow kursowały na południe w porze monsunowej zimą i wczesną wiosną, powracały zaś do Arabii późną wiosną lub na początku lata.
