La coclea /kɒk.lɪə/ è la parte uditiva dell'orecchio interno. È una cavità a forma di spirale nel labirinto osseo, nell'uomo che fa 2,5 giri intorno al suo asse, il modiolus. Una componente centrale della coclea è l'organo di Corti, l'organo sensoriale dell'udito, distribuito lungo la partizione che separa le camere del fluido nel tubo convesso conico della coclea. Il nome deriva dal latino per il guscio di lumaca, che a sua volta è dal greco κοχλίας kokhlias, da κόχλος kokhlos in riferimento alla sua forma coiled; La coclea è avvolta in mammiferi ad eccezione dei monotremes.
