Un coloboma è un buco in una delle strutture dell'occhio, come l'iride, la retina, il coroide o il disco ottico. Il foro è presente dalla nascita e può essere causato quando un divario chiamato la fissazione choroide, presente durante le prime fasi dello sviluppo prenatale, non si chiude completamente prima che un figlio nasca.
