Svantaggio, legale in commercio, restituzione di un dazio precedentemente pagato per l'esportazione di articoli eccedenti o per la riesportazione di merci straniere. L'obiettivo di uno svantaggio consiste nel lasciare che le merci soggette alla tassazione siano esportate e vendute in un paese straniero con gli stessi termini delle merci provenienti dai paesi in cui sono stati esauriti. Diversa da una bontà in quanto una bontà consente alle materie prime di vendere all'estero a meno del loro prezzo di costo; Può tuttavia verificarsi che, a determinate condizioni, che la concessione di uno svantaggio abbia un effetto equivalente a quello di una bontà, come nel caso dei cosiddetti beni di zucchero in Germania. Le tariffe precedenti contenevano tabelle elaborate sugli svantaggi consentiti all'esportazione o alla riesportazione di materie prime, ma per quanto riguarda il Regno Unito il sistema dei magazzini legati ha praticamente abolito gli svantaggi, in quanto le merci possono essere immagazzinate fino a quando non sono necessarie per l'esportazione.

The object of a drawback is to let commodities which are subject to taxation be exported and sold in a foreign country on the same terms as goods from countries where they are untaxed. It differs from a bounty in that a bounty lets commodities be sold abroad at less than their cost price; it may occur, however, under certain conditions that giving a drawback has an effect equivalent to that of a bounty, as in the case of the so-called sugar bounties in Germany. The earlier tariffs contained elaborate tables of the drawbacks allowed on exporting or re-exporting commodities, but so far as the United Kingdom is concerned the system of bonded warehouses practically abolished drawbacks, as commodities can be warehoused until needed for exportation.
