L'oboe / oʊboʊ / è una famiglia di strumenti musicali a doppia faccia a nastro. La variante più comunemente usata, l'oboe standard, gioca nell'area degli alti o del soprano. È costituito da un tubo di legno di circa 65 cm di lunghezza, con chiavi in metallo, foro conico e campana arcuata. Il suono è prodotto soffiando nella canna e vibrante una colonna d'aria. Il tono distintivo oboe è versatile e è stato descritto come "luminoso". Quando il termine oboe viene utilizzato da solo, si intende generalmente lo strumento a treplice standard. In inglese, prima del 1770, lo strumento standard è stato chiamato il hautbois, il hoboy o il hoboy francese.
