I serows sono sei specie di mammiferi di medie dimensioni capra-like o antilope simile del genere Capricornis. Tutte le sei specie di serow erano fino a poco tempo anche classificati tra Naemorhedus, che ora contiene solo i Gorals. Serows sono il più lento e meno agile di membri del genere Naemorhedus, ma sono comunque in grado di salire pendenze per sfuggire predazione o per mettersi al riparo durante gli inverni freddi o estati calde. Serows, a differenza delle gorali, fanno uso delle loro ghiandole preorbitali nel segno del profumo. La colorazione varia a seconda della specie, della regione e dell'individuo. Entrambi i sessi hanno barbe e piccoli corni che spesso sono più corti delle loro orecchie.
