I Veda sono un grande corpo di testi originari dell'antica India. Composto nel sanscrito vedico, i testi costituiscono lo strato più antico della letteratura sanscrita e le più antiche scritture dell'induismo. I Veda sono apauruśeya. Si suppone che siano stati direttamente rivelati, e quindi sono chiamati śruti, distinguendoli da altri testi religiosi, che sono chiamati smṛti.
