Anthozoa
Anthozoa é uma classe dentro do filo Cnidaria. Ao contrário de outros cnidários, os antozoos não têm uma fase de medusa no desenvolvimento deles. Em vez disso, eles liberam espermatozóides e ovos que formam uma planula, que atribui a algum substrato em que o cnidário cresce. Alguns antozoários também podem se reproduzir de forma assombrosa através do brotamento. Mais de 6.100 espécies foram descritas. O nome vem das palavras gregas άνθος e ζώα, daí anthozoa = "animais de flor", uma referência à aparência floral de seu estágio de pólipo perene.
