A gravura é a prática de incisão de um desenho em uma superfície dura, geralmente plana, cortando sulcos nele. O resultado pode ser um objeto decorado em si, como quando a prata, o ouro, o aço ou o vidro são gravados, ou podem fornecer uma placa de impressão de intaglio, de cobre ou outro metal, para imprimir imagens no papel como impressões ou ilustrações; Essas imagens também são chamadas de gravuras.
