Ao longo dos anos, a Fiat adquiriu inúmeras outras montadoras: adquiriu a Lancia em 1968, tornou-se acionista da Ferrari em 1969, assumiu o controle de Alfa Romeo do governo italiano em 1986, comprou a Maserati em 1993 e tornou-se o proprietário completo do Chrysler Group LLC em 2014.
