Fronteira
Uma fronteira é as áreas políticas e geográficas próximas ou além de uma fronteira. O termo veio do francês no século 15, com o significado de "fronteira" - a região de um país que enfrenta em outro país. A palavra "fronteira" também significa uma região à beira de uma área instalada, especialmente no desenvolvimento norte-americano. É uma zona de transição onde chegaram exploradores, pioneiros e colonos. Ou seja, quando os pioneiros se mudaram para a "zona fronteiriça", eles foram alterados pelo encontro. Uma fronteira também pode ser referida como uma "frente". É isso que Frederick Jackson Turner chama de "significado da fronteira".
