Peerage
A parceria é um sistema legal de títulos amplamente hereditários no Reino Unido, que é constituído pelas fileiras da nobreza britânica e faz parte do sistema de honras britânicas. O termo é usado tanto coletivamente para se referir a todo o corpo de títulos nobres e, individualmente, para se referir a um título específico. O titular de uma peerage é denominado um par. Na prática moderna, apenas membros da Família Real recebem novas parcerias hereditárias. Somente as parcerias de vida que carregam o direito pessoal de se sentar e votar na Câmara dos Lordes geralmente são concedidas para honrar os indivíduos na prática moderna; as últimas peregridades hereditárias não-reais foram criadas sob o governo Thatcher. As parcerias, como todas as honras britânicas modernas, são criadas pelo monarca britânico e surgem em vigor quando as cartas patentes são afixadas com o Grande Selo do Reino. O governo de Sua Majestade aconselha o Soberano a uma nova parceria, sob um processo que examina as nomeações para honras políticas. Atualmente, alguns pares hereditários, eleitos para representar os outros, também conservam o direito de se sentar e votar na Câmara dos Lordes; A partir de 1 de julho de 2011, apenas 90 membros sentados em virtude de uma parceria hereditária permanecem.
