Na arquitetura, um plinto é a base ou plataforma sobre a qual uma coluna, pedestal, estátua, monumento ou estrutura repousa. Os Quatro Elementos de Arquitetura de Gottfried Semper postularam que o rodapé, a lareira, o telhado e a parede constituem toda a teoria arquitetônica. O rodapé geralmente repousa diretamente no chão, ou "stylobate". De acordo com a Semper, existe o rodapé para negociar entre uma estrutura e o solo.
