Racionalidade
A racionalidade é a qualidade ou o estado de ser razoável, com base em fatos ou motivos. A racionalidade implica a conformidade das crenças de alguém com os motivos de uma pessoa para acreditar, ou de suas ações com os motivos da ação. "Racionalidade" tem diferentes significados especializados em economia, sociologia, psicologia, biologia evolutiva e ciência política. Uma decisão racional é aquela que não é apenas fundamentada, mas também é ideal para atingir um objetivo ou resolver um problema. Determinar a otimidade para o comportamento racional requer uma formulação quantificável do problema e fazer várias premissas fundamentais. Quando o objetivo ou o problema envolve tomar uma decisão, fatores de racionalidade em quanto informação está disponível. Coletivamente, a formulação e os pressupostos de fundo são o modelo dentro do qual se aplica a racionalidade. Ilustrando a relatividade da racionalidade: se alguém aceita um modelo em que se beneficiar é o ideal, então a racionalidade é equiparada a um comportamento auto-interessado ao ponto de ser egoísta; enquanto que se alguém aceita um modelo em que beneficiar o grupo é ótimo, então o comportamento puramente egoista é considerado irracional.
