Os sentidos são capacidades fisiológicas de organismos que fornecem dados para percepção. Os sentidos e seu funcionamento, classificação e teoria são tópicos sobrepostos estudados por uma variedade de campos, principalmente a neurociência, a psicologia cognitiva e a filosofia da percepção. O sistema nervoso possui um sistema ou órgão sensorial específico, dedicado a cada sentido. Os seres humanos têm uma infinidade de sentidos. A visão, a audição, o gosto, o cheiro e o toque são os cinco tradicionalmente reconhecidos. Embora a capacidade de detectar outros estímulos para além daqueles governados pelos sentidos tradicionais existe, incluindo temperatura, sentido cinestésico, dor, equilíbrio e vários estímulos internos, apenas um pequeno número deles pode ser classificado com segurança em sentimentos separados por si mesmos. O que constitui um sentido é uma questão de algum debate, levando a dificuldades em definir o que exatamente é um sentido. Os animais também têm receptores para detectar o mundo ao seu redor, com graus de capacidade variando muito entre as espécies.
