Um slogan é um lema ou frase memorável usado em um contexto político, comercial, religioso e outro como expressão repetitiva de uma idéia ou propósito. A palavra slogan é derivada do slogorn, que era uma anglicização do gaélico escocês e do bronzeado irlandês de sluagh-ghairm. Slogans variam do escrito e do visual para o cantado e o vulgar. Sua simples natureza retórica geralmente deixa pouco espaço para detalhes e um slogan cantado pode servir mais como expressão social de propósito unificado do que como comunicação para um público-alvo. Os slogans de marketing geralmente são chamados de taglines nos Estados Unidos ou straplines no Reino Unido. Os europeus usam os termos bases, assinaturas, reivindicações ou pay-offs. "Sloganeering" é um termo principalmente depreciativo para a atividade que degrada o discurso ao nível dos slogans.
