Towpath
Um caminho de reboque é uma estrada ou trilha na margem de um rio, canal ou outra via navegável interior. O propósito de um caminho de forno é permitir que um veículo terrestre, animais de carga ou uma equipe de extratores humanos arrasse um barco, muitas vezes uma barcaça. Este modo de transporte era comum onde a navegação era impraticável devido a túneis e pontes, ventos desfavoráveis ou a estreiteza do canal. Após a Revolução Industrial, o reboque tornou-se obsoleto quando os motores foram instalados em barcos e quando o transporte ferroviário substituiu o lento método de reboque. Desde então, muitos destes towpaths foram convertidos em trilhas de uso múltiplo. Eles ainda são chamados de caminhos de rebocação - embora agora eles só sejam usados ocasionalmente com o propósito de rebocar barcos.
