O peixe fraco, Cynoscion regalis, é um peixe marinho da família tambor Sciaenidae. Um grande, esbelto, peixe marinho, é encontrado ao longo da costa leste da América do Norte. A cabeça e a parte de trás deste peixe são de cor marrom escuro com um tom esverdeado. Os lados têm um leve tom prateado com manchas escuras e a barriga é branca. A origem do seu nome baseia-se na fraqueza dos músculos da boca, que muitas vezes provocam a liberação de um gancho, permitindo que os peixes escapem. O peixe fraco cresce para 1 m de comprimento e 9 kg de peso. Encontra-se ao longo da costa leste da América do Norte, da Nova Escócia, do Canadá ao norte da Flórida, onde é pescada comercial e recreativa. O peixe fraco também é conhecido pelo nome indiano americano "Squeteague". Nos estados do Atlântico médio, o peixe às vezes é referido pelo nome da truta do mar, embora não esteja relacionado aos peixes propriamente chamados de trutas, que estão na família Salmonidae. O peixe fraco é o peixe estatal de Delaware.
