Agate / æɡət / este o varietate microcristalină de silice, în special calcedonie, caracterizată prin finețea granulelor și luminozitatea culorii. Deși agatele pot fi găsite în diferite tipuri de rocă, ele sunt asociate clasic cu roci vulcanice și pot fi comune în anumite roci metamorfice.
