Cesiune
Actul de cesiune este atribuirea proprietății unei alte entități. În dreptul internațional se referă în mod frecvent la terenul transferat prin tratat. Biletul de lege al lui Ballentine definește cesiunea ca fiind "o predare, o renunțare, o renunțare la jurisdicție de către un consiliu în favoarea unei alte agenții" În contrast cu anexarea, în cazul în care proprietatea este renunțată cu forța, cedarea este voluntară sau cel puțin aparent.
