Partea nordică a summitului Mont Blanc și, prin urmare, summit-ul în sine fac parte din satul Chamonix. În partea de sud, situația este diferită în funcție de țară. Italia consideră că frontiera trece prin partea de sus. Franța consideră că granița se desfășoară de-a lungul turneului stâncos, sub capul summitului, plasându-l în întregime pe teritoriul francez.
