Khufu
Khufu, inițial Khnum-Khufu, este numele de naștere al unui faraon egiptean vechi, faraonul, care a domnit în prima jumătate a perioadei vechiului regat. Khufu a fost al doilea faraon din dinastia a 4-a; el a urmat tatălui său posibil, regele Sneferu. El este general acceptat ca a construit Marea Piramidă din Giza, una dintre cele Șapte Minuni ale Lumii Antice, dar multe alte aspecte ale domniei sale sunt destul de prost documentate. Khufu este bine cunoscut sub numele său elenizat Khêops sau Cheops și mai puțin cunoscut sub un alt nume elenizat, Súphis. O versiune rară a numelui lui Khufu, folosită de Josephus, este Sofe. Istoricii arabi, care au scris povești mistice despre Khufu și piramidele din Giza, l-au numit Saurid sau Salhuk. Singurul portret complet păstrat al regelui este o figurină de fildeș din fildeș înalt de trei inci găsită într-o ruină a templului din perioada anterioară de la Abydos în 1903.
