Mlaștina tare, cunoscută și sub denumirea de "quahog" sau "clamă", este o moluște bivalve marine comestibile, originară din țările estice ale Americii de Nord, de la insula Prince Edward până la Peninsula Yucatán. Este una dintre numeroasele bivalve comestibile care, în Statele Unite, sunt deseori menționate ca niște scoici, ca și în expresia "săpătură". Sursele mai vechi din literatură pot folosi numele sistematic Venus mercenaria; această specie este în familia Veneridae, scoicile venusului. În mod confuz, "quahogul oceanic" este o specie diferită, Arctica islandica, care, deși superficial similară în formă, se află într-o familie diferită de bivalve: este mai rotund decât scoica dură, de obicei are periostracum negru și nu există sinus pallial în interiorul cochiliei. Au fost cunoscuți pentru a trăi până la 500 de ani. În 2006, o scoică de Quahog a fost luată de pe podeaua oceanului de pe coasta de nord a Islandei. Mai târziu a fost confirmat că are 507 de ani și este recunoscut ca fiind cel mai lung animal non-colonial din lume.
