Constricția este o metodă folosită de diverse specii de șarpe pentru a-și ucide prada. Deși unele specii de șerpi veninoși și ușor veninoși nu folosesc constricția pentru a-și supune prada, majoritatea șerpilor care utilizează constricția nu au venin. Șarpele loveste inițial prada și se ține pe el, tragând prada în bobine sau, în cazul unei pradă foarte mare, tragându-se pe prada. Șarpele va înfășura una sau două bobine în jurul prazii.
