Distilare
Distilarea este un proces de separare a substanțelor componente din amestecuri lichide prin vaporizare și condensare, pe baza volatilității diferite a componentelor din amestec. Distilarea este o operație unitară sau un proces de separare fizică și nu o reacție chimică. Din punct de vedere comercial, distilarea are o serie de aplicații. Se utilizează pentru separarea țițeiului în mai multe fracții pentru utilizări specifice, cum ar fi transportul, generarea de energie și încălzirea. Aerul este distilat pentru a separa componentele sale - în special oxigenul, azotul și argonul - pentru uz industrial. Lichide chimice pentru utilizări diverse sunt distilate după sinteză pentru a elimina impuritățile și materiile prime nereacționate. Distilarea soluțiilor fermentate poate produce băuturi distilate cu un conținut mai mare de alcool.
