Euhemerism
Ehemerismul este o metodă de interpretare raționalizatoare, care tratează conturile mitologice ca o reflectare a evenimentelor istorice sau personaje mitologice ca personaje istorice, dar care au fost modelate, exagerate sau alterate prin relatări și moale tradiționale. A fost numit pentru creatorul său Euhemerus. În literatura mai recentă despre mit, cum ar fi în mitologia lui Bulfinch, Euhemerismul este numit "interpretarea istorică" a mitologiei. Euhemerismul este definit în literatura academică modernă drept teoria că miturile sunt conturi distorsionate ale evenimentelor istorice reale. Euhemerus nu a fost primul care a încercat să raționalizeze mitologia prin istorie, deoarece părerile euhemeriste se găsesc în scriitori mai vechi, printre care Xenofan, Herodot, Hecateu de Abdera și Efor.
