Fascismul / fæʃɪzəm / este o formă a naționalismului autoritar radical care a devenit proeminentă la începutul secolului al XX-lea. Influențat de sindicalismul național, fascismul a apărut în Italia în timpul Primului Război Mondial, combinând mai tipic poziții de dreapta cu elemente ale politicii de stânga, în opoziție cu liberalismul, marxismul și conservatorismul tradițional. Deși fascismul este, de obicei, plasat în extrema dreaptă pe spectrul tradițional stânga-dreapta, câțiva fascisti auto-descriși, precum și unii comentatori au spus că descrierea este inadecvată. Fascistii au căutat să-și unifice națiunea printr-un stat autoritar care promova mobilizarea în masă a comunității naționale și se caracterizau prin faptul că au avut o conducere care a inițiat o mișcare politică revoluționară cu scopul de a reorganiza națiunea conform principiilor conform ideologiei fasciste. Mișcările fasciste au împărtășit anumite trăsături comune, printre care venerarea statului, devotamentul față de un lider puternic și accentul pus pe ultra-naționalism și militarism.
